 Tony Morgan, after serving his apprenticeship and qualifying as a skilled electrician decided to leave the Southern Electricity Board and laid the foundations of today's business by trading under his own name back in November 1963. Wessex Electrical Contractors, trading as Wessex Electricals was the natural progression 4 years later, which in turn, culminated with Wessex Electricals (Shaftesbury) Ltd being formed in 1972.
Wessex Electricals business steadily grew in the 70's and 80's gaining an enviable local reputation as a company that people could trust would deliver a timely service in a professional and friendly manner. In 1984, Wessex Alarms was founded (Now named Wessex Fire & Security) and became a division of Wessex Electricals (Shaftesbury). This business quickly established itself as the regions No 1 provider of fire & security systems and has proven to be a great success.
The business culture of Wessex has always been to maintain careful steady growth in unison with forward thinking innovation without compromising the high standards of customer care and professional management. This approach has enabled Wessex to focus on key areas of expertise and this naturally culminated into the wessexgroup now consisting of four separate Limited Companies which include Wessex Electricals, Wessex Fire and Security, Wessex Catering Maintenance and Wessex Building Services.
 The Group still remains a family owned business, with both sons, Simon and Ali, assuming the directorial responsibility working together with each of the company's General Managers / Directors supported by a core of long serving and loyal staff, Wessex has grown organically and now enjoy sales in excess of £16 million a year employing over 275 full-time engineering and administration staff.
The company has always been managed on a sound financial basis and having moved to brand new purpose built offices and stores in 2001 from which a fleet of over 150+ vehicles is centrally operated, we anticipate and look forward to a continuing success for all our staff and customers.
